The Athletics Room consists of memorabilia, photos and newspaper clippings of the

career of Tommy Burleson from his high school career through his professional career.

Seven foot four inch Tommy Burleson, a native of Avery County, was a star basketball

player at North Carolina State and in the NBA.  He also was a member of the 1972

Olympic Basketball Team.  Also on display are numerous items of memorabilia from

Avery County sports history.
