This portion of the Museum is on the National
Register of Historical Places. Here you will see how prisoners lived their
days and an original register of inmates. The old jail cells tell of a
time when prisoners had few niceties. For sixty years (1912-1972) these
cells housed criminals who left their record scratched on the walls of these
cells. One commode lid tells the story of an inmates death. It reads
"sueyside."
You won't want to miss seeing the jailer's
"guest list" with all the names of those who spent time within these
walls.
