The Mountain Tools and Trades Room provides a glimpse into the
hand labor that built Avery County. This note posted by an old cobblers
bench states that William Wiseman and his son Thomas accompanied the
Overmountain Men, on their march to the Battle of Kings Mountain. Their job was to make boots for the American Soldiers.
